The Brief

This Grade 2* listed building wanted a conservatory designed and built in character with the main house and grand enough to compliment the exceptional quality of this magnificent building.

Design & Materials

Due to the nature of the Grade 2* listing, we worked closely with an architect who was in constant and close consultation with the client and relevant authorities. We designed the entire conservatory from the foundations and brickwork to the steelwork in the roof and clerestory roof lights. The steel work was a requisite in the large roof to help support the clerestorey although the finish ensured none of the steel was evident but instead the conservatory looked like an authentic wooden structure. The brickwork from the foundations ensured the overall design tied in with the main house. A variety of timbers and materials were also used relevant to their suitability in the construction.
The roof lights in this build were rounded off by housing automatic open/close sensors for the windows, a nice technological touch in what is a powerful and striking conservatory right for hosting the grandest of dinner parties.
